    how i fix this sentence
    Climbing up the canyon, the Colorado River glittered in the sun far below us.

    dangling participle

    As we were climbing...

    Although it is obvious that rivers can't climb, there is a constraint on conjuncts to the effect that their implied subject has to agree with the subject in the matrix clause.
    The meaning of the original sentence is obvious, though.
