    Dear teachers,

    Would you be kind enough to share with me your opinion concerning my paraphrasing of the following sentence?

    How could she have said such terrible things to him. He had never failed her.

    How could she have said such terrible things to him. He had never let her down.

    to let one (friend, etc.) down = to fail a person in time of need
