    ever thrashed

    Dear friends...

Could you please comment on the correctness of these sentences?

    1. If the team I cheer for ever gets thrashed like yours did yesterday, I would/will start cheering for ABC.
    2. If the team I cheer for ever is thrashed like yours was yesterday, I would/will start cheering for ABC.

    Many thanks

    Re: ever thrashed

    Very much appreciated, Bob.

    But... why not 'would'?

    If I were you I would buy a € 60k car.

EDIT: MMM... because of 'ever'? I guess so. Ha.

"If I were to get rich I would buy a 60k car"

    But

"If the team I cheer for ever got thrashed like yours did yesterday, I would start cheering for ABC."

    and

"If the team I cheer for had ever got thrashed like yours did yesterday, I would have started cheering for ABC."

    For once, it's quite logical!
