    I prefer 'is drinking'.

    Not a teacher.

    The word you choose depends on what you are trying to say. Is he done drinking the coffee? Are you talking about a past action or one that is still going on?

    "Drinks" is never correct. If the action is ongoing, we would say "is drinking."

    If the action is over, then you would use the past tense. "...he drank"

    You wouldn't use "has drunk" unless you are talking about more than one time that he drank coffee instead of tea. "He usually drinks tea, but for the past three days he has drunk coffee."
