    Broken down

    The area of twon is beginning to look very.......... and impoverished.

    a) Run down.

    b) Put-down.

    c) Broken-down.

    Which choice is the correct one?

    I think it is run-down because it means worn and broken down. Actually, waht has confused me is that I found in the dictionary that one of the meanings of run-down is broken-down! So, I am wavering between both!

    We would use "run down" in that context.
