Hello, Mr. Mckane.
(1) I think that many people say this is an "easy" question.
(2) A student and a teacher are talking:
I am afraid of next week's test, sir. Oh, don't worry. I can
assure you that if you study, you will pass. It's not that
hard. Thank you, sir. I shall start studying now.
I think this is called the first conditional. Something is possible.
(3) A student and a teacher are talking:
I am afraid of next week's test, sir. Are you? Well, you should
be afraid!!! You are one of the laziest students in my class.
If you studied (you don't), you would (you won't) pass.
I think this is called the second conditional. Something is not "real."
If I have time (maybe I will), I will come to your party. I may come.
If I had ( = I do not) time, I would come to your party. So
do not expect me.
If everyone is on time, we will finish the meeting tomorrow in 15 minutes.
If everyone were on time (they never are), we would finish ....
But as usual, they will all arrive late, so the meeting is going to last
If every human being were nice, this world would be a paradise.
