Hi everyone,

I would like someone to give me the right answer with justification, please.
she hasn't seen her family.... three years ago.
1)

a)- Since
b)-For
c) From
d)-Before

I have already read in this forume about if " Since + period of time+ ago" is correct or incorrect .But, it didn't result in an accurate answer. So I'm still confused about that:-:)-(

2)
Can not we use the present perfect with "ago" and why ? I need some examples please.
If the answer is "No we can not..." So, "I have not seen him since three years ago" is completly incorrect.

Thanks for your replies in advance.

I don't want to get embroiled in another "since...ago" conversation, so all I'll say is that of the four choices you have been given, a) is the only one that works at all.

One main point though, regarding your title, remember that it's "grammar", not "grammer".

I was writing quickly...But,to be honest with you, I always make such mistakes

I don't want to get embroiled in another "since...ago" conversation,

I read that conversation :-D:-D

So,as you said, a) is the answer that waks at all

Thanks again..

********** NOT A TEACHER **********

Hello, Abdoss.

(1) Many English learners love a book called Practical English

Usage by Mr. Michael Swan.

(2) He says that you may NOT use the present perfect and ago.

(3) He says there is one exception: since ... ago. His examples:

We have been living here since about eight weeks ago.

I haven't bought any since a week ago.

(4) I personally would not use that kind of sentence, but Mr.

Swan says it is good English.

(a) I would prefer something like:

We have been living here for eight weeks./ It is now July. We have

been living here since late May.

It has been a week since I bought any./ I haven't bought any

for a week.

(5) Maybe you should make a decision: never use ago with the

present perfect. In other words, don't use the since ... ago construction.

But when you see it, you will understand that it is "good" English.

Thank you
