    Have/hatred

    Hi,
Can I use 'hatred' in the following sentence:
"God, please stop war and hate/hatred."
What's the difference between hate and hatred?
I'd be grateful of any help.

    ********** NOT A TEACHER **********

    Hello, Nuh Yamin.

    (1) Maybe if I start, others will share their views with us.

    (2) I checked my books and the Web, and I cannot find the

    answer.

    (3) Maybe ( a big maybe!!!), hatred is stronger and refers to a

particular person or thing or group of people.

    (3) Maybe, hate is more general (not so particular).

    (4) So -- maybe -- your sentence is "correct":

O, God, please stop all the fighting and hate in this world.

    Thank you

    Re: Have/hatred

I can't find the thread, but this has been discussed before. As far as I can recall, we came to the conclusion that both hate and hatred are recognised as the noun, whereas only hate is the verb.

Someone else may remember this better, or be able to find the link.
