Would you please rephrase the line?

The major challenge to the stock market health could end up being the speed at which the $787 billion stimulus package is helping the economy.

    ----------------------------------

    Thank you.

It looks passable to me as it is.

I think the only thing I would change is "the stock market health" to "the health of the stock market".

    However, what does it mean?

The main structure is: the challenge could end up being the speed.

Does it mean the sooner the package shows positive effect on the economy, the healthier the stock market will be?

    Exactly.

How quickly the positive effects are felt will affect the overall health of the stock market.

So what does 'end up' mean here?

Does it necessarily mean the challenge could end, or the challenge could be eventually decided by the speed ? Thank you.

The phrase "ended up" means "the final result was that..."

I ended up driving myself after my coworker couldn't go to the out of town meeting. The final result was that I drove myself.

It could end up that it's sunny all day and you cancelled your trip to the beach for nothing. The final result of cancelling your trip now instead of waiting to see whether it's really raining tomorrow is that you cancel your trip for no good reason.

It could end up that... -- We don't know yet what the final result will be, but it's possible that the final results will be that...
