    conjunction 'or'

    Hai
This is Raj from Chennai, India.

I like to know where the word 'or' to be used.
    For instance,

1.The teacher asked David, John or Peter to come
    or
2.The teacher asked David or John or Peter to come.

Which one of these sentences is correct?

She wanted one of them to come. It didn't matter which one.
    or
2.The teacher asked David or John or Peter to come.
Means the same thing, but you don't need to use "or" twice.

Which one of these sentences is correct?
The teacher asked David, John or Peter to come (she wants one of them to come).

The teacher asked David and John or Peter to come (she wants David to come and she also wants either John or Peter to come too).

The teacher asked David, John and Peter to come (she wants all three of them to come).

    Re: conjunction 'or'

In a list, use the conjunction only once:
"...David, John, or Peter" not "David or John or Peter." The same rule applies if the conjunction is "and" or anything else.

If the items in the list are short, like one-word names, you can omit the comma before "or," but it's your choice; I always like to leave it in. If the items in the list are several words each, you should keep the comma before the conjunction.
