    two identical expressions

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether the following expressions are identical?
    (In respect on their meaning.)

The real truth of the matter.

    The actual state of affairs.

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

    Re: two identical expressions

Not really- they could b used to describe the same situation, but the real truth implies a greater degree of inaccuracy/falsehood before to me.
