Because I just
don't see any reason to use it in a sentence like 'I inherited this disease from my father.' "have" adds nothing; it's just in the way.
I would only use have when it's needed, as in 'I have lived in Spain for 3 years.'
And the overuse and overselling of perfect tense is terribly confusing to students and leads to sentences like...
'I have been inherited this disease....'
'I have been at home last night.'
'We have been grownups.'
'I have understood.' (instead of 'I understand.')
