    prepositions

    Hi,

Is it ok to use two prepositions like this (in this case, 'on' and 'by') without comma? Example: it was an attack on the cops by the cops.

    2) Again, which preposition is right here? They fastened him 'on' the stretcher. They fastened him 'to' the stretcher. Is it 'on' or 'to'?

I see nothing wrong with your use of prepositions.

    1) It was an attack on freedom of speech by the very people who are supposed to defend it.

    2) I would say "They strapped him to the stretcher". "Fasten" isn't usually used when referring to actually attaching a person to something else.

    Fasten your seatbelt.
I'll fasten the duvet cover using the buttons at the bottom.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
