Topic:
The causes for divorce in modern society

In recent year the divorce rate has begun to rise dramatically in many countries. While years ago divorce was rare in certain societies, several factors make it quite common today. More and more husbands and wives choose divorce as a way to escape from obstacles in family life. The basic causes for the rising divorce rate in modern society are women's changing roles, infidelity, economic crises and financial problems.

The first cause for divorce in modern society is women completely change in roles. In the past, men had to earn whole money to afford the expense of family, whereas women only spent most of their time at home doing housework, taking care of their children and husband. As a result, women had to depend financially on men. However, women's roles have been changing in modern society. They had begun to play a more significant role in life. They could work outside to earn money to support their living cost instead of sitting at home looking after their children. Hence, they became independent individuals. Both sexes have the same chances in earning money as long as they are qualified. It is the fact that women now can put an end to an unhappy marriage, which was impossible in the past.

The second reason of divorce is lack of communication between spouses is the second reason of divorce. When two people lack communication, they are unable to solve problems that may occur in the marriage. Many married couples think that the minor problems that occur in their marriage, are insignificant, and are not worth talking about; however, they fail to realize that even the smallest things can cause conflict between them when they are not able to solve them through communication. They can’t have an effective relationship if either one of them won’t discuss their feelings, can’t talk about their mutual or personal issues.

Another cause for divorce is infidelity. Infidelity leads to divorce and is probably the single most damaging thing that can happen to a marriage. When the relationship has problems, the wives or husbands sometimes feel lonely, ignored, and dissatisfied. They will go elsewhere to fill that need. In addition, some people want to experience different things and to live different lives. All these factors culminate in adultery.

In conclusion, a family is one of the important parts of society, thus spouses should aware of the significance of relationship in family. At the moment, divorce has become the substantial problem because of changing women’s roles, lack of communication and infidelity. The couples must be aware that divorcing is not always the best solution to improve their life. it may be the worst solution.
