I would like to know what the expression "take the big game down" mean. I searched it in this site but I could not find. I've listened this expression at song "Elephant gun" by Beirute.

It would seem to mean "shoot the big game" - elephants, hippos, rhinos.
In the sport of hunting, 'game' is what you shoot and kill; "big game" is big things that you shoot and kill; "bringing/taking them down" means making them fall over dead.

There are less lethal uses of "take them down", but in a story titled "Elephant gun", they're probably not relevant.

(Of, course, it could also be metaphorical in the song)
