    Hello

    is this sentence correct"

    I spoke with John yesterday and we are advised that he still awaits a report from his doctor

    It's not a very good sentence.
    It certainly suggests that John advised that he still awaits a report. But if so, it would be much better to say 'I spoke to John yesterday, and he advised that he (still awaits)(is still waiting for) a report from his doctor.' There is no good reason to use passive voice in the middle of the sentence.
