Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
I’m all fagged out and I’ve got that marriage ceremony to perform in less than half an hour. It’s too late for me to hunt up anybody else to ring the bell, and if you didn’t ring it for me, I’ll be in a pretty pickle.
in a fine/pretty/sorry pickle = into a pell-mell, desultorily, face down, into a confusion
Thanks for your efforts.
Regard,
V
