    Cool Present simple or continuous

    Hello!!

(Let's imagine that this happens (happening?) during a quarrel with my

    boss): I quit! or I'm quitting!/ I resign! or I'm resigning?

    Which are best?

    Thanks a lot

    W

Perhaps, in the situation of an argument, "I quit" is more likely. It's more emphatic than the others.

Cool Re: Present simple or continuous

    Thank you.

    1) Which is correct "happen" or "happening"?

    2) Can we ever say "I'm quitting?".

    Thank you

Cool Re: Present simple or continuous

Why can't we use the present continuous "happening", in this case?

    Thank you

Because you need the verb "to be" with the present continuous. For example "was happening".

'Let's imagine this happening during a quarrel with my boss.' is ok.

    Sorry I forgot "is".

Then, could we say: Let's imagine this is happening during a quarrel with my boss?

    Yes, that would be fine.
