Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?
“I tell you I’ve gone it head-first, as if it was our bottom dollar. (Stewnson’s “The Wrecker”)
one’s bottom dollar = one’s last dollar
bet one’s bottom dollar = to be very certain of something; to bet in complete certainty of winning
I bet my bottom dollar you never ever went to Bulgaria!
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V.
