    fit, rush, outburst

    Dear teachers,

    Would you be kind enough to tell me whether the phrases in bold in the following sentences are in his proper place?

    Joseph at this burst out into a wild fit of laughter, in which, encountering he eye of his sharp, he stopped all of a sudden, as if he had been shot.

    fit = rush, outburst

    King George breaks into a torrent of laughter.

    Sally breaks into a fit of laughter.

    His remark sent March and Ryan into fits of laughter.

    Maria gives it away during a temporary boutof insanity.

    Now he didnít bother to tell me to get out of the way so I had a fit of coughing.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Re: fit, rush, outburst

    The phrases are correct.
    Coughing fit is better than fit of coughing.
