    Smiles used in a letter

    Hi there

I just wanted to know if it is normal to write smiles at the end of the letter. Like instead of writing "kind regards", "all the best" or "yours sincerely" you write smiles?

And what do you call these things "kind regards" and so on?

    They are called closings.

In letters to close friends and family you can use any closing you want - including smilies.

In any sort of more formal correspondence. . .definitely not.
