For i dipt into the future, which is correct?

    Hi,

I'm after using the lines from the poem Locksley Hall by Alfred Lord Tennyson but i've found two different grammatical ways of it been written.

    There's:

For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see, saw the vision of the world and all the wonder that would be.

    Then there's:

For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see; Saw the vision of the world and all the wonder that would be.

I know it's just a minor difference with the ";" but im looking to get this as a tattoo and i want it to be correct.

I'd have it tattooed with a comma. I don't think the semicolon is appropriate there.

If you change your mind later it's easier to change , to ; than vice-versa.

    I would prefer the semicolon.
