    Exclamation Preposition

Can I use the preposition "with", with the word "sad"?
Example: "I'm sad with you." / "I'm sad with her".
    Thanks a lot.

    Re: Preposition

"upset" and "angry", for example, work with "with",

    I am upset with you.
    I am angry with you.

    "sad" doesn't work, though,

*I am sad with you. (ungrammatical)

"With" doesn't work here but "for" does.

    I am sad for you.

I sympathize with you, I know how sad you feel.

    Re: Preposition

Which preposition would you use if you want to say that you are sad because of me, that I made you sad.

I think I'm looking for a shorter way to say "I'm sad because of you" or "You are the reason why I am sad"... thanks

    Re: Preposition

    "You make me sad"
    or
    "You've made me sad"
    Would those work?
    or
"What you've done/said has saddened me"
    ?
    :c)

    They all sound great.

Note, you make me (feel) sad. 'feel' is often omitted.
