has a lot happening for locals and visitors

The Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area has a lot happening for locals and visitors alike as the Easter season approaches.
    -------------------------------------------

Does that mean the area has a lot that is happening?

Re: has a lot happening for locals and visitors

There will be many events that people who live there will enjoy and people who are visiting will enjoy.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
