Hello,

Which option is correct in this case?:

-The only thing I want is:

-to go home

-go home

-going home.

Thank you

Not a teacher.

You should use the infinitive:
The only thing I want is to go home.

I think that

The only thing I want is going home is correct as well.

I don't see why it wouldn't be.

I once read that "the only thing I want is go home". "Going home" would sound more natural in spoken.

"To go home" is the only correct option.
No native speaker would say "The only thing I want is going home" or "The only thing I want is go home".

One is in a jail.
He regularly goes home every month.
How would you say that the only thing he cares is to go home every then?

In a conversation I would say

The only thing I care is my going home.

"To go home" is the only correct option.
No native speaker would say "The only thing I want is going home" or "The only thing I want is go home".

Hello, Bhaisahab.

I am probably wrong. But I do believe I've heard people say things like The only thing I want is go home many times.

I used to think people should only use to go home in this context then I changed my mind. Maybe I should change it back again.

Thanks

Richard

As I said before, no native speaker would say that.

And what about this one:

"The only thing to do is to go home?" Is it correct?

Thanks

Yes, that's fine (without the question mark).
