    reported speech - which tense

    which is correct (a) or (b)

    (a) She told the manager that she was going to New York on October 1 therefore she was unable to attend the interview. She requested him to change the time of the interview and she enquired if he could change the time of the interview.

    (b) She told the manager that she is going to New York on October 1 therefore she is unable to attend the interview and she enquired if he can change the time of the interview.

    a) She told the manager that she was going to New York on October 1, therefore, she would not be able to attend the interview. She requested a change of time for the interview.
