Why are passive and active voice not used in everday speech/
They are both used in everyday speech. Verbs in English are either in the active or the passive, so verbs are one or the other. The passive is less used in informal English, but is still very common- I was born in Dewsbury, my car was stolen- these are everyday passives. Here's a definition of them:
