    a ling beat/ collects herself

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the following sentence?

There is a long beat as Kelly collects herself.

    a long beat = a long pause

collect oneself = compose oneself = contain oneself

    Thank you for your efforts.
    Regards,
    V
