    Smile the preposition "in"

I got some questions when I used the prep. "in " in the expression that something will happen in the future. For instance, I could say I'll come back home in 5 minutes.
I was wondering whether there is another method instead of "in five minutes" but can convey the same meaning.

You could express a similar idea in different ways, but there's no straight substitute for the preposition for me.

    Re: the preposition "in"

I'll come back home in 5 minutes.

I think that this is a shortened version of: I'll come back home (with)in (a period of) 5 minutes. Maybe, from your Chinese perspective, you see the logical impossibility of being 'in' 5 minutes, and it seems strange.

Thanks you all. Could you give me some examples to substitute that expression.

    Re: the preposition "in"

In the past tense you can say "he came back after five minutes".
