    How to pronounce "blessed?"

    Hello,

    I know how the blessed sound in "the blessed land" that is /blesid/.

    Does the blessed in "He is blessed" sound the same? Or is it /blest/? Or is either way fine?

    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
