    The Director General's report

    Please check the following sentences:

    1. The Director General isn't an enemy of "Tornado" and contrary to his predecessor – there is no reason to believe that he will discriminate against the company. The matter in question has nothing to do with personal attitude and not the Director General's personal attitude towards "Tornado" will determine the substance of the report he will submit on the company.

    2. It is unlikely that "Tornado" will change its policy whatever non-binding decisions will be adopted by the NPC conferences. Moreover, in case a decision against "Tornado" will come up for vote at the NPC conference, there is still a reason to believe that the unions will come to their senses and use the veto.

    3. This issue is yet, another issue which is used by the NPC in order to wage a campaign against "Tornado" and call into question its legitimacy. This trend should be stopped at any price. And yet, without the unions backing it will be impossible for the NPC to impose stringent measures on the company.

and contrary to his predecessor – there is no reason to believe I would change this to something like and, contrary to [or unlike his...] his predecessor, there is no reason to believe

I don't quite see the change that your are suggesting. Would you prefer: "unlike his predecessor" to "contrary to his predecessor?"
