    The US attitude

    Please check the following passage:

Let's hope that the ups and downs in the US attitude towards this issue are not a result of the White House's political maneuvers in order to set Obama at a better starting position before the elections to the US House of Representatives by the end of this year, nor that these ups and downs reflect the White House's changing mood due to the lack of progress in the Palestinian issue.

    Re: The US attitude

Grammatically, it's okay. Stylistically, it's a run on.

Is there a way you could put the information about "in order to set Obama at a better starting position before the elections to the US House of Representatives by the end of this year" so that it doesn't interfere with the flow of the sentence.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
