I would like to say it is not correct. But I can't see a serious objection.
Only it does not sound natural and lacks a bit of salt. What about:

"Pollutions is a serious problem which scientists try to solve in order that beaches can be safe again."
    or
"Pollution is a well know serious problem which affects, among other several points, the beaches. Currently, plenty of scientists are working on it, trying to find possible solutions to bring our beaches back to an acceptable safety level."

These are only some suggestions from a non-native speaker.

    Re: QUESTION

    How about:
scientists are trying to solve the serious pollution problem on the beaches to make them safer again.

"Pollution is a serious problem that scientists try to solve so the beaches can be safe again".

    I think it's okay.

    Legal.
