    Present Simple or continuous

    Hello!

Can we use the Present simple and the Present continuous interchangeably in the following case? :

(I'm talking to a friend, I'm ill, I don't manage to speak properly!):

    Oh god, I'm taking/I take some tablets that's why I stutter/I'm stuttering!

    Thank you
    W
