Linking Verb or State of Being Verb

In the sentence, the time is 10P.M., is the verb "is" a linking verb? I am confused because it seems to answer the question when which would make it a state of being verb. Please clarify. Thank you.

Re: Linking Verb or State of Being Verb

If the constituent after 'is' answered the question 'when', would that mean 'is' can't be a linking verb in that case? No! Linking verbs can be followed by adverbials (SVA; V = copula), which is not the matter at hand, though.

    What is the time?
the time is that, 10 pm. Nominal!

    When is the time?
    The time is 10pm.

    In
    The time is 10pm.,
'is' is a linking verb, a copulative verb, a copula.

Thank you for your thorough and clear explanation. Could you give me an example when the linking verb is followed by an adverb please?

    Re: Linking Verb with adverb

Could you please give me examples of a linking verb followed by adverbs. I thought they were only followed by adjectives or nouns.
