    heave in sight

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

.Miss Sharp, from her little bedroom on the second floor, was in observation until Mr. Joseph’s great form should heave in sight. (Thackeray’s “Vanity Fair”)

heave in sight = to move into sight in the distance

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V
