    on a shoestring

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

    Europe on a shoestring

The couple was seeing Europe on a shoestring.

I gave it as an example for a movie that was made on a shoestring budget.

I started my business on a shoestring

on a shoestring = with little money to spend; on a very low budget.

    Thank you for your efforts

    Regards,

    V.

    Re: on a shoestring

Yes, though I would say on a very tight budget.

    What about it?

It's got nothing to do with your OP.

I googled the term and they sound like home-made crisps (AE chips).

    Re: on a shoestring

I had never heard the term before I too googled it.

    Hi Rover KE,

Sure enough you are right. In return for it the sentence of question has to do with Tdol’s reply to my OP. It was meant only for an elegant tease to him. I noticed that he showed an inclination for simplification of my weird terms. The present sentence was a constructive provocation.
