    adjunct professor

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Michael F. Scheuer is an adjunct professor of security studies at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

adjunct professor = academic rank higher than assistant professor

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Re: adjunct professor

I am not a teacher, but I work at a European university.

I think your interpretation is incorrect.

Professors in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to that entry, "adjunct" refers to the fact that the scholar is only in academia on part time. Google is your friend.
