Become or Becomes ?

Hi everyone here ..

when the price of a good increases, two things happen:

1. That good (becomes/become) more expensive relative to all other goods.

2. ......

my question is, what is the right choice? is it becomes or become? and why ?? explain it grammatically please

Hi, and welcome to Using English.


With a regular verb, the S ending is for the third-person singular.

That good is third-person singular. (Those goods is third-person plural.)

That good becomes. Those goods become.

I don't know that I have ever seen "good" in the singular referring to items for sale. That item or that commodity seems more likely.
