    1-He did not rapidly answer my questions.

    Did he answer my questions at all? Maybe he answered them slowly.


    2-He did not automatically draw his gun when he saw me.

    Did he draw his gun at all? Maybe he drew his gun but after thinking about it for a while.

    That's why we tend not to form sentences that way.
