    accessory after the fact

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

I’m not prepared to run the risks of concealment; we’re accessory after the fact. The thing might come out at any time. (J. Galsworthy, “The White Monkey”)

accessory after the fact = concealer, accomplice in a crime after its committing

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V
