Hi, everybody, here's another brain-teaser for you ;-): what do you call the function when an alarm (a bell?) rings when the microwave oven is done cooking/defrosting/heating etc?
Thanks in advance.

Is there a name for it?

We call it "the dinger". The microwave "dings" and it "dinged", and wait for "the ding". That's just us, though. I wonder what other popcorn eaters call it.

I see. Let's say you have to indicate this "feature" in the user's manual or on the product package. What would you call it? "Cooking complete alarm"?

In a technical manual it might be referred to as an end-of-cycle signal.
