    hard lines

I came across a funny expression "You have hard lines about your lips, are you happy?" What would that possibly mean?

    Re: hard lines

It's an odd description- maybe the person's lips were clenched and they looked unhappy.

    Re: hard lines

A small correction first - you made a typo with "funny".

It is a line from a play and the script is here, if anyone is interested.

I think the word "about" might be confusing you. In this expression (and some others) it just means "around".

I agree with Tdol. The woman's lips are probably pursed.

I was reading a play in one act "Alice Gerstenberg". Guess It was written in the 20s.
