    act/ be one’s age

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Yes, she did like saying whatever came into her head; and for a while Abel encouraged her. Now he took no notice or said: “Be your age, old girl.” (J. Lindsay, “The Revolt of the Sons”)

    get/ be one’s age = don’t behave childishly

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V

Get your age doesn´t sound right. You´re correct about be your age. Act your age is more commonly used.
