    be all agog

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

All the world was agog for great events – and nothing happened. (W. S. Maugham, “The Making of a Saint”)

There are many you might choose from, all agog for husbands. (D. Du Maurie, “The King General”)

be all agog = be excited, burn with the desire, be dying to, be in raptures over

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V

Yes, though I think there might be a typo with ruptures.

You are right Tdol, though vil's version makes for a more dramatic picture.
