Af the end of a food program, the chef says:

"SO WE SEE IN THE END THAT NOT ONLY CAN THE OLD ALLIGATOR PEAR LEARN A FEW NEW TRICKS, IT CAN TEACH US A FEW NEW TRICKS."

I see that he is playing with words here and I understand the "Alligator pear" means avocado, and actually the whole episode was a bout avocado.

The problem here is that even if we translated it literally and not as "avocado", how can "Old alligator pear learn tricks"???

Thanks,
