(1) I see that you live in Taichung.

(2) I have heard that Taichung is a beautiful city with an

interesting history. (Not so hectic as Taipei!!!)

(3) I would imagine that English-speaking tourists would be

delighted to speak with you -- so long as you make it

perfectly clear that your only goal is to practice your

English. You could offer to help them find their way

around the city or suggest places they should visit. Of course,

you and they should be careful. If you are a male, perhaps you

should not start a conversation with a single female (she might

get the wrong idea). I would suggest speaking with people in

groups or older couples. I imagine that many foreign visitors are

confused by Chinese-language signs. They would probably welcome

help from a local citizen. Remember: Practice makes perfect. The

more you speak, the better your English will be. Good luck!

Talk to them the same way you would talk to anyone. They are people, after all.

Nobody has ever accused me of being people before. I suppose I must be. Well, you learn something every day.
