    Exclamation U + U followed by is / are ?

    Which one is correct 'is' or 'are' after two uncountable nouns:

    uncountable noun + uncountable noun - is / are

    eg.:

    Music and news are ......

    Music and news is .......

    Absolutely correct.

    There are, however, certain fixed phrases made up of n+n that are often treated as thouhg they were single units.

    Bread and butter is an integral part of the English tea party.
    Fish and chips is no longer the British national dish.
