    run-off poll

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Brazil heads for a run-off poll on Sunday with the latest polls giving Dilma Rousseff, current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's protegee, a clear lead over her challenger Jose Serra. Rousseff's expected victory would make her Brazil's first woman president.

run-off poll = run-off election = a second election conducted by the National Labor Relations Board in which no choice receives a majority of the ballots in the first poll.

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

run-off poll = run-off election = a second election because no/neither candidate achieved a clear majority in the first poll.
