Today I needed to answer to a friend and I wanted to answer in an appropriate way using a collocation or idiomatic expression, so I glanced through the Oxford Collocations Dictionary with no luck.
For instance: how to answer to someone asking for an opinion about something? I wanted to type that "I couldn't judge what he asked me to not risk to offend him..." using a collocation or idiomatic expression but I didn't find any.
So my question is: is there a book in which words are associated to collocations or idiomatic expressions according to different contexts?
Do you mean, you don't like it, so if you tell him honestly you will offend him?
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
